I know that everyone has seen the 12v converter to 110. Well I went out and pulled the set in the 52 and found the original jack. and this converter. Its a 6v Allstate current converter with output of 110 at 30 watts cont. Have never seen one of these or even heard about them before. How about any input as to what year it may have came out. Hooked it up to the battery charger and it works. will try to get a pic of it and link it. ?????

actually that's an inverter [DC to AC], as used in RV's so probably around since travel trailers started

Cool! I don't think 6v inverters are made any more so if you don't want it you might be able to ebay it for some folding money.

It sounds worthless, and dangerous. Fortunately, up in Canada here, I just completed a rigorous training course on how to deal with these. You'd better send it on up.

The only problem I see is the 30 watt rating- - - -half the capacity of a table lamp bulb! Are you sure that's all it's able to produce? There are very few 110 Volt accessories I can think of with a power draw that low.

You one lucky dude dakota, I've been looking for one of those for a couple of years. Of course they don't make them anymore, the problems you run into with converting those AC devices is the current draw. It's quite high with 12v but twice as bad with 6v. I have a 500w continuous 12v Whistler inverter that I could power up the tube radios with when I was into radio collecting. My jumpers were #8's to the 12v battery. If that had been a 6v with that output capacity it probably would have needed battery cables to connect it up to the battery. Most old radios would have drawn from 100w to 300w power.
I'd love to see what was inside that 6v inverter. It was probably before the solid state divices came along, so there had to be some kind of vibrator built into it and it's probably mostly transformer.

I would be surprised to find much more than a vibrator, transformer and rectifier tube. I have no clue what a person would do with 30w of ac power. About the only appliance that I remember that pulled that little power was an electric clock. The 60 cycles would make a clock be very accurate compared to the windups.

i picked up what looks like a typical, old '50s-'60s vehicle's generator, that would as usual, bracket-mount to the front of an engine, pullied into the fan belt, but it puts out 110v/60hz ac. and it works
