I firmly believe the guys selling wheels today know nothing about applications and fit.... so I guess I will have to search for myself.
Does any one know where I can find the
offset for original wheels.
back space I know is 3 3/4 on my 6 lug X 5.5/139.7 wheels
All I wanted to do is get a more modern set of rims for my truck. And I wanted to be certain I had the right thing so I would not rub anything. I honestly believve I could learn to rebuild the motor easier...

Most styles that are out for the later trucks will not work on the older trucks, backspace and offset are wrong. You'll need to look for wheels for pre-'87 solid axle 4x4 full size to be correct.
Without knowing what width rim you want, I can only guess at the offset, but I can say that you'll be looking at -6 to -25, depending on width.
