Just bought a 63 GMC 1000; three-on-the-tree, jumps out of second on overrun, and occasionally third when running about 55 mph.

Any ideas guys?

worn syncros - common on these ol trannys - just hang on to the lever to keep it in, saves the cost of a rebuild! grin

For a proper repair, you'll need a 2nd./3rd. gear synchronizer assembly and a "small parts kit" which will include needle bearings, thrust washers, and other minor metal parts, plus a gasket set. Check some of the obsolete parts suppliers associated with this site, and you'll probably find what you need.
