HI,
I HAVE A 66 C-20. I HAVE 16X6 STEELIES THAT ARE JUST A STOCK GM ITEM THAT DO NOT ACCEPT HUBCAPS. DOWN THE ROAD I WOULD LIKE TO RUN ANOTHER SET OF 16X6 STEELIES THAT WILL ACCEPT SOME FORM OF HUBCAP. I AM LOOKING FOR THE VINTAGE LOOKS, SO EITHER A HUBCAP THAT CAME ON THAT ERA TRUCK, OR SOMETHING EVEN MORE VINTAGE. I DO NOT WANT A "LATER" MODEL HUBCAP LIKE THE ONES IN THE EARLY SEVENTIES. I HAVE LOOKED AND LOOKED EVERYWHERE, TALKED WITH ALL THE BIG COMPANIES, AND I AM COMING UP WITH NOTHING FOR THE 8 LUG C-20. AS YOU KNOW, THE 8 LUG HAS THE FLOATING REAR AXLE WHERE THE END PROTRUDES THROUGH THE RIM, SO IT HAS TO BE A UNIQUELY BIG/DEEP HUBCAP.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY TIPS, PICS, ETC.?

I'd give Jim Carter a call -direct. See what he might have for used caps. There was also a big hubcap place in the Northwest-Oregon or Wash. State IIRC. You could also go with regular caps and hole out the centers like the early 4x4's did for their front caps. No logos. Have you tried a 1/2 ton cap on the 3/4T wheel without it being mounted to the axle? Would it fit? Or is it too small? If you can't find any, I'm sure that truck will still look very tough with super clean rims, new lugnuts, painted axle ends and no caps. Some of the early GM literature for corporate 4x4's show new trucks without hubcaps. Some 1960 lit. I have comes to mind.

Nice truck Tom. I thought I saw a set in the SWAP MEET. But i cant find um anymore may have sold. The 16" rim hubcabs looked just like the 15" but were just bigger and deeper. Good luck.
