Ya learn something new every day! I have a buddy that is into 1957 Chevy Trucks and along the way is drifting to GMCs. I went to his place last night to see what he was working on. A 1957 GMC 1/2 ton 4x4 NAPCO long bed stepside. That is a BIG truck. and a BIG V8 to boot. What is that thing, not a 283? Now I know the GMCs had a 347 Pontiac V8. He told me all about them and the optional carbs........on and on. This is cool, a new light bulb has come on.

It's a Poncho of some sort. They used a few different displacement engines for the GMC V8 during the Blue Chip years.

The big Chevy's from '57-'59 used 322 Buick Nailheads. Called them the "LoadMaster." The 322 ended in Buick passenger cars in '56. In '57 the Buicks bumped up to the 364.
I wouldn't mind having one of those bellhousings and flywheels.

The 288 was the standard V8 for the '55 light duty GMCs. 324 Olds? Must have been a transplant.
