For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 238 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 238 | Have a question that I hope some of you with more wrench turning can answer for me . I need to re-due the kingpins on TOTO a GMC 1 1/2 ton . Being a somewhat of a lazy cuss at times , can I swap a good front axle assembly off of a Chevy 1 1/2 ton onto a GMC without any problems/modifications ? I know that GMC did things differently than Chevy on some of it's mechanicals so one needs to be careful about what you swap . Thanks ED H | | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 186 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 186 | im not 100% positive, but i believe that i read that the rims on the GMC's are lug centered, and the chevys are hub centered.. at lest for some years? not sure might want to look in to that | | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 238 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 238 | Thanks corpo , Toto has hub centered rims . Just looked at both axle assemblies and visually they look identical , forgot the tape measure to make sure , oh well . GMC also used stud piloted wheels. I'm not sure if Chev did. However, if you find a Chev with hub piloted wheels, the wheels will interchange with your GMC. I can't really tell from the pictures of your 303 what kind of wheels they are. | | |
