My dad and I are going to rebuild our 1954 235 c.i. we don't want to spend much more than $900 on the kit itself. What brands do yall prefer or highly suggest? and which ones should I totally avoid. links would be appreciated! thanks again.

Here is a good place to start.

I would also find some local suppliers of engine parts. All of the parts should be available locally.

Patrick's

Kanter

Egge Machine Company (but I could not find a 54 235 truck kit)

I would compare parts-prices against NAPA (local) and Rockauto.com (most likely, they do not have kits).
