Hi everyone! Get ready for a lot of questions I'm working on my first truck project! I'm new to the car/truck world but I've decided to just go for it! The more research I do, the tougher it gets...LOL. Here's what I'm working with.... (3100 on all)
1953 chassis (no title)
1950 Donor truck (title, rough but a lot of good parts)
1952 Cab (title, almost perfect!)
1955 235 engine (being rebuilt)

So far I've finished stipping down the chassis, cleaned it up, painted with Rust Bullet, then a low gloss black engine paint. Looks sharp at this point I put disc brakes on the front (safety), went to an open driveline, and also a 3" drop.... I know this part is not stock, but from here on I want to go as stock as possible.
My thought...
Build it as a '52 because of the cab. Now here's where I start running into problems. From what I understand, there was no chrome on the '52. I want to do the chrome grill and bumpers, "tan" paint, "off white" and "tan" interior.
You're probably thinking....what's the problem??
I want to be able to enter it in a "Stock" class when I show it. I know I can have a couple mods and still be stock, but I've already done that with the chassis.... hopefully not too many already. Did ANY of the 52's have chrome? I can change the colors if I need to, but I would really like to have the chrome....
Thoughts?? Suggestions??

Welcome Monica,
First of all It's your truck and you should build it the way you want it. If you are using all vintage parts, I think you should be allowed in the "stock" class at the shows. So what if something isn't exactly like it came from the factory. I like to go to the shows to see what everybody else is doing and show off my truck. I don't care about trophies or anybodys critiques, but that's just me.

I love to look at the different ideas that people come up with and I've seen a lot of the AD trucks that have been modified, but so far no "stock".
I just feel that I'm stepping into a "Man's World", even though a lot of women also own vintage cars and trucks, and I need to be knowledgeable on what I'm doing.
But, like you said "IT'S MY TRUCK" and who cares what they think! ......Just as long as I enter it in the correct class

From the sadist in me, I would build two vehicles with the parts that you have gathered.

Either way, build it like you want.

Wow, looks good. You'll be done before you know it! Slow and steady is the only way to "git 'er duunnn".
Better than any truck building trophy, in my opinion, is how excited people, particularly toddlers and five year olds get when you drive by. I think they are the most enthusiastic group of old truck and car lovers there are.

Welcome Monica, good plan you have there. Build it the way you want to. My '53 didn't come with chrome grill or bumpers, not even the interior knobs were chrome (due to the Korean war) and they're staying that way.

Monica,did you allow for the offset on the rear?The stock rear didn't bolt down on center like the late models,you may want to swap ends with your springs to put it back where it belongs.
