ok. i have a 1952 chevy. its all original except the enginge is from a 1954 winch truck. its just your average 235 c.i. I6. the shift linkages near the manifold keep getting stuck on the manifold. this becomes down right dangerous when your only usabe gears suddenly become reverse and 1st while driving. we took a video of the truck before we dis-assembled it completely.
at about 3 minutes and 25 seconds into the video i explain to my friends what is causing the problem. you can see what im talking about in the video.
the linkages are sorta loose. do i need to rebuild that section to make it tighter? or what? help would be lovely.
You should have close to an inch clearance between the shift arms and the manifold.Rebuilding might help,can't hurt, but check and see if the steering column and shift box is misaligned or loose. Also check the steering box for loseness at the frame. All in all it appears that you have a decent condition cab and frame. good Luck with your project.
most of the cab is in good condition. except the floor boards. they are rotted out pretty bad. we are doing a ground up restoration so hopefully the issue will be corrected with taking everything apart and putting it back together. and thanks!
