Dan, the odds of your TRUCK being NOS is about slim-to-none. In this context, it would mean that your truck is brand new, never titled.

The term usually applies to parts that were in inventory. For example, you find a jack that is NOS. It means that it is a brand new 50 year old jack. It is NOT a reproduction, rebuilt, or remanufactured item.

Off topic digression:

It should be noted that a NOS part is not necessarily pristine, even if it comes in a box. The part might have been stored poorly and/or thrown around over the past 50 or so years. If you are buying a NOS part, you should ask for photos of the box and of the part - these things affect the cost/value of the item. Paint, chrome, overall-finish/appearance, and rubber components might be in bad (non new) condition.

Very good point TC, a good used part may be way better than a NOS part that has been mistreated.

Also, new old stock chrome parts may be pitted. These parts are regular production chromed, not the special show chrome that most people expect it to be.

WFO = Wide Freaking Open (cleaned up). IOW, pedal to the metal, foot on the floor, peggin' the meter, flat out, jammin' and crammin', etc., etc.

I put these together a long time ago, so there may be some new ones missing, but they're good reference material.
