#57140 02/28/2006 7:52 PM | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 112 Member | | Member Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 112 | hey guys,,got a 261 head i'm having re-done. the haed no. comes back as a 57-62. it also has 858 then a space 848 on the side. got the machine shop stumped unless his book is a misprint. the intake valves that came out of it are 1.934 at the head, book says should be 1.875. the stems are .342 book says thats correct. length is 6.375, book says should be 4.888. anybody with any info on the correct intake valve size, head,stem,length. or any info on what might have been done to it, someone had put high comp. pistons in it, so who knows what else they did..thanks guys.. | | |

The 1.934" dia. valve is used in 1950-52 powerglide engines. It is not uncommon to see these installed in the later heads.

I have used the 1/16" larger valves myself many times.
