A good friend of mine just sold me an original hood ornament for my 54, any tips on mounting it? Figured I could make four little spikes in the mounting holes and transfer the mounting locations that way, a template would be nice thumbs_up

Way cool man. Just get shoe box card board and may your own.
I even use that foil tape over the top to shape it just right.
Use making tape on the hood to transfer the marks and drill through the hood.
You may have to grind the bottom of the orniment to go over the hood strip.
Remember measure twice drill once. Good Luck.

Thanks sully, that's a good idea!
No grinding will be required, it clears the hood strip perfectly and the sweet spot were it fits the curve of the hood looks just right.
