I don't know if any of the major vendors carry the original under bed tanks, but perhaps Bob Adler can provide one. He's got a field full of AD trucks, and I think there are a few 47's and 48's there. He ain't cheap, though, and I don't know if a used tank can be shipped, but it's worth a try. If you find a used tank, the 54/55 panel-body tank is slightly different from the earlier tanks. It would work for you, but it has different hangers, and different fuel/sender hook ups.
Also, if you find a used tank, be sure to obtain any of the parts needed to hang the tank.

The tanks are very similar to the suburban tanks and the filler neck is unique to the pick-ups. It's good to know they are available. I had looked but not found them.
I'm not sure this is what I will use but it is an option. Final plans are still a ways out.
I don't like the tank behind the seat and don't care for the fill cap in the bed floor.
