I was installing new fuel hoses and when I cut the rubber hose from the tank to steel line that runs to the fuel pump nothing at all came out.

I tried blowing air back into the tank, but nothing happended...

Do these "behind the seat" fuel tanks have a 1-way valve, or is it probably plugged up with gunk?

Dan,
Was the truck running before you cut the hose? Are you sure there is gas in the tank or line? If this was a non running truck that's been sitting awhile, it's either dry empty or plugged with gunk -- probably both.

I have a '65, and I helped hamiatjax with his '62 and I didn't see any kind of valve on either one. And even if it had a one way valve, it would certainly allow fuel to run out from the tank (assuming there was any fuel in the tank to begin with).

You might also try asking this question in the 60-66 Forum.

Good luck,
John

I would guess gunk. When I had to cut the line on my 64, it completely drained the tank. Luckily there were only a couple gallons in it.

Guys,
Assuming a siphon was established,if it wasn,t plugged up,any liquid in the tank would flow out,if it wasn,t dry.
Keep in mind here that 55 and Newer, all the way thru 72, had senders AND Pickup Tubes that came out of the TOP of the tank.
Last Gravity Flow to My knowledge on any G.M. truck was 55 First
