I have done a few searches on line with no luck. Does anyone know where I can find out how many C-30's were produced in 1962, and ideally how many had the 327?

I also tried a search here, but the search gave miles and miles of posts that didn't help much at all.

"how many of mine" is a real common question, unlikely you'll find production figures of any individual model in any pre-72 year, certainly not by the particular options included, GM didn't keep that sort of info regularly - there were almost 400,000 Chev trucks made in 62, one of the biggest years ever according to Gunnells book, and an optional V8 was more popular each year between 60 and 66

Well, using some very fuzzy math, of the 400,000, I will guess half were c10's, an addtl. 150,000 were 20's, and the remaining 50,000 were 30's.

Of the 50,000 c30's, I would wager that only 10,000 had 327's, and of that 10,000, most had a very tough life of hard work and salted roads, so probably only 100 are in still operating condition. of those, 85 have had the dashboards cut like swiss cheese, 10 are complete customs, and 4 are barely operable rust buckets that let you look at the road while you drive(holding your feet up of course to prevent loosing a foot in a pothole)

That makes mine the last one in the world. I will cling to my dilusion ignoring any fact brought to my attention. thats my story and I am sticking to it!

Its really too bad GM didn't keep better track, it would have been interesting to know. I guess in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter too much, I still really dig the truck.

my understanding is GM used to have records of this stuff and it was lost in a fire. thats why gm canada can still provide good information to their owners.
