I have a '64 C10 and I'd be interested in anyone's experience pulling out the 230cu-six and replacing with a Chevy 350/350 set up (+ floor shift).

I guess it should fit OK as the small block was a factory option? How different are the engine & gearbox mounts, and any problems with the oil pan, hooking up exhausts, propshaft, shifter etc. Is the radiator up to the job?

Thanks for the advice, Simon

It would be a lot easier if you keep the manual trans. The V-8 bolts right up to the same bell housing. (63 up). You will need an after market crossmember or fab. your own. You will have to have total new exhaust made up. The radiator can handle it if it is in good cond. The oil pan clears O.K.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

bolt the six engine mount insulators to the V8 & it will bolt in. an auto trans crossmember for C10 67-72 is nearly identical, & 73 to 87 C10 can be used but look a little diff. brian

The other problem that you may have is that the v8 weight less then the 230 six and the front may raise up to high. also like 64fleetside said use the six engine mounts just take off the extra peice on top of the mounts that bolts to the six and they bolt right up to the 8. if it has the little bitty rad. like the 18x18 size you willl need the bigger rad. they do sell a replacement rad for this truck at most rad shop are part stores and in the part truck catlogs.
