hey, how does one adjust the brakes on a 65 c20? Its got drum brakes, but i dont see any hole in the backing plate to adjust them like on new vehicles.

I believe they are self adjusting. Check to see if you the adjusting hole in the brake drum. I know my 68 does.

they should self adjusting on a 65, bbut mine has hole foradjusting, at the bottom of the backing plate

you have to take the wheel off on the front to get to the adjustment slot.I usually take off the back drums but you can do it thru the slot on the back. They are self adjusting but I never been happy with the adjustment.

thanks. i will look harder for the slot. my rear brakes are out of adjustment. pedal is soft, but pull the e brake on a few clicks and it firms right up.

The slot may have a black rubber plug in it, which might make it hard to see, especially if there's alot of road grime buildup.

thats probably it. when i greased the front end i had to dig out the mud and dirt to find the grease nipples.
