I'm getting ready to pick up a doner Chevy truck (95-99)ish to use the motor, transmission and computer in my 41 cabover. Anybody know of a "plug-in" wiring harness to easily accomplish this, or the best wiring people to go to for a custom harness. I hope to use stock guages but that may not be feasible.

Any information with regard to this swap would be appreciated...wiring or otherwise.

I'm good at fabrication, and modification, i'm just not familiar with the theory of what needs to stay and what needs to go when making this conversion.

Thanks! Tom

Here's a link to some folks that have been EFI engines in older cars for a few years. They have a manual to help make the conversion.

When I put a EFI 6.0L with 4L80E trans in my '70 Impala, I had a company called Speartech reprogram my computer and modify my harness. The owner, called John, is very good and very helpful, you should contact him... His site will tell you more, he will also help with what parts you need from your donor, with A/C,...

http://www.speartech.com/

Then, you need to go and take a look at a site called LS1Tech, in the chapter called Conversions and Hybrids (http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids-28/). They put these engines in everything and there is a lot of knowledge available there! Even if no one has put one in a '41 truck, there is a lot of things that will help you there (fuel system, cooling, programming, lots of little things...). I would not have been able to put the 6.0 in my Impala without this site! Just ask your questions, just like here! This is also the site where I heard about Speartech, which is a sponsor of that site, by the way.

I ran across this page for F.A.S.T a while back. Haven't actually used their products, just tucked it away. If you wind up using them let me know.

My son used a harness from a place called haywire, when he put his lt-1 and 4l60e in his coupe. to the tune of 550 bucks.
