Thinking about lowering the stance of my 53 gmc 3/4 truck. But really dont have the money for a lowering kit. Anybody know of a low buget way of doing so. Thanks

You can remove some of the leaves out of the springs.

i removed 4 out of the original 7 leafs in the rear of my 57 and added shackle extensions and that dropped the rear right at 3 inches.

and although i did get a dropped front axle and removed only 1 leaf, you could remove a few leafs from the front and see what you get, although ride quality will suffer.

Hey Leonard I've been meaning ask you, were did you get your Shackle extensions from? I figure if I'm in the middle of flipping my rear axle I could add some shackle extensions and go just a bit lower.

How about a "not so Budget way" to lower a straight front axle?
are there Drop spindle for a OE straight axle?

The spindle and axle are all one piece I think. The cheapest way to drop it is do it yourself or send it to Sids. I think that is what I may do before too long. Also thinkin about doin Scott Danforths frontend. Dont know just yet. Anyway you go, your gonna spend some loot.

Send it to Sid. I am not sure removing springs on a 3/4 is the way to go. While it would definitely work, and be more cost effective, dropping the axle is much nicer. Call him first to see if he can do it. Sid is a super nice guy and always answers his phone.
