on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2008 Posts: 210 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2008 Posts: 210 | I was thinking of having my complete Cab chemically cleaned. While preparing it I noticed that there are pieces of wood under each of the doors?! Is this original or has somebody used wood to support the bottom of the door? Will this wood deteriorate in the chemical bath or should it be okay? | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | certainly wasn't any wood on my 46 big bolt, and I can't imagine why there would be, especially under ... might remove it and investigate how rotten the metal is behind it, you'll have to take it off before chem dip cleaning anyway ... got any pics of it?

Basically at the bottom of the door there is a U shaped piece of sheet metal The bottom of the U would be the exterior cab underneath the door opening. Inside of this U is a piece of 1x4 it appears. Looks like it is there to support the floor (not the removable floor piece). You can really only see it if you look from under the firewall. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 23 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 23 | i have a 46 and there is wood sandwiched in the cab floor right near the three large clutch head screws. i had my cab and other sheet metal chemically dipped and it did no damage to the wood. | | |
