I was thinking of having my complete Cab chemically cleaned. While preparing it I noticed that there are pieces of wood under each of the doors?! Is this original or has somebody used wood to support the bottom of the door? Will this wood deteriorate in the chemical bath or should it be okay?

certainly wasn't any wood on my 46 big bolt, and I can't imagine why there would be, especially under ... might remove it and investigate how rotten the metal is behind it, you'll have to take it off before chem dip cleaning anyway ... got any pics of it?

Bill

The only wood I saw on my 46 1/2 ton was under the cab for maounting to the frame. Nothing in or under the doors.

I cannot see it in any of my pictures. I'll see about getting some pictures for you. Basically at the bottom of the door there is a U shaped piece of sheet metal The bottom of the U would be the exterior cab underneath the door opening. Inside of this U is a piece of 1x4 it appears. Looks like it is there to support the floor (not the removable floor piece). You can really only see it if you look from under the firewall.

i have a 46 and there is wood sandwiched in the cab floor right near the three large clutch head screws. i had my cab and other sheet metal chemically dipped and it did no damage to the wood.
