For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 25 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 25 | I have a 52 chevy 1/2 ton truck with everything stock in the back. How big of a tire can I put in the back (without having to do any mod). I just saw a truck just like mine with large slick tires in the back on stock height . It was really giving another dimension to the truck. I didn't have time to talk to the guy or take any picture.
What do you guys think ?
Do you have any pics ?
Let me know. Peioa

Just seems strange someone would use slicks on relatively narrow wheels. Sounds like it was a pro-streeter,were they standard width? The height's not so much a problem, but width...... Here's one I found

I am planning on running a 265/75/16 tire, it has a 10 1/2 cross section. These will not be on stock wheels. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,513 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,513 | I have 255/70/15 tires on 15 x 8 rims with a 3 3/4" backspace and no interference issues. I could not find 16" rims with sufficient backspace that I liked but am satisfied as what I did buy is a direct bolt on without spacers, longer studs, etc. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2563630450023244788GRGawV

(The truck, that is....) Good info you've provided, especially the backspacing. This is the thing most people struggle with. Is that the stock rear axle? 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr.
