DreamCruise is coming up which means if I make it above 5 mph for any length of time I will be doing great, so no counting on the CV windows or the floor cowl vents. Also I have no interest in installing A/C.

I wanted an old six volt dash fan, but frankly, the prices on ebay have gone through the roof for a nice one, as the Bomba crowd likes them. So, I got a trico vacuum fan. Clamps to the steering column, uses a bit of intake vac, and voila, cool air, and help defrosting that dang rear window. http://users.erols.com/b-dwheeler/indextrico.htmlModel T and A guys seem to have them. When or rather what years were electric fans available, as opposed to the vacuum version. If they were available for the 47 to 54 trucks how scarce are the electric fans compared to the vacuum? | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,554 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,554 | I watched one on ebay a month ago,it sold for $650.00.That's pure cash,WOW !!!!! 1951 3100 Chevrolet1951 Chevrolet Suburban CarryallImage"A house is built with boards and beams. Unless someone has some additional information it looks like the fans were listed as accessories from 1938 to 1948, I can't find any GM fan accessory beyond that. I think the Trico vacuum fans were after market fans, I never saw one with a GM tag on them. Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

In my opinion they fit in nicely with older decor. They are also available in other finishes. Sits on a nice mount and has 2 swivel/ pivot points and a 2 speed, 3 position switch. i'll try to get some pics. We get them from Fleetpride, they have multiple stores in almost every state in the Union.

Right Tim, those were offered from ’38-’48 according to the accessory brochure that Gene Schneider offered up. They were Casco fans, you can see the stamp on the rubber blade hub. I haven’t seen any GM accessory fans after that. I was thinking that the recirculating and fresh air heaters took their place from then on as far as GM was concerned. It was then left up to Western Auto and Warshawski’s and the like to supply the fans aftermarket. Here’s that brochure scan: http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/image/115751206 DG
