I installed a rebuilt alternator on my '49 3100 today. The alternator is your basic Delco Remy 63-amp 3-wire. After attaching the wire harness to the alternator, I'm now seeing a faint spark (short) at the battery terminal when I reconnect the battery. I'm guessing this is not normal but I thought I'd ask. When I remove the wires at the alternator, there is no spark (short) at the battery. Thoughts on how to fix this?

It sounds like you either have a short circuited main diode in the alternator or there's a problem with the regulator -this is what the field and sensing wires on the alternator plug into. There's some 2 and 3 wire alternator info on this page that might help you find the problem. http://millpower-race-engineering.piczo.com/?g=43218292&cr=5
