| | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 4 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 4 | I'm getting ready to pull the engine out of the 53 1/2 ton. I have the shop manual, and it shows the engine pull kit. I can't find that thing anywhere.
I can get some chains from Autozone that I can bolt into the head, but I'm worried that they will be pulling in and not straight up.
Should I be worried about that? Or just buck up and do it?

RT | | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | I made a spacer bar out of a peice of 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 angle iron by drilling two holes and bolted the chains to it with two 3/8s bolts thru the chains also I used two eye bolts that I got at ace hardware the same size as Your head bolts they are rated at 2200 lbs each and only cost 8.00 , You just take out I think the 4th and 8th head bolts from the front to balance the engine, and screw the two eye bolts in there place it is very safe .drill the two holes in the spacer bar the same as the spacing on the two eye bolts and out it will go .
