I am trying to purchase the correct stock intake/exhaust manifold for a replacement 240 cu in engine which will be installed in a 1955 1st series GMC 1/2 ton truck. The replacement engine has a cracked exhaust manifold with a 2 1/2 inch three hole exhaust flange. The intake manifold carburator studs are 3 5/8" center to center this engine came out of a 2 ton GMC. Do I stick with these sizes or go to 2" exhaust and 3" center to center carburator studs? I would like to keep the truck stock, if possible. Any advise would be much appreciated.

The motor should be a 248, not a 240, though I suppose that is a typo. I'm not sure what the correct exhaust manifold would be. Hopefully someone with a parts book will look it up for you.

That exhaust manifold sounds like it may be off of a 302 or large port 270, do you have the casting numbers of the manifold? You can remove the intake manifold and use the one from your original engine as long as the bolts match up.

Yes, the casting number on the manifold is 218549IP or 2185491P
