The replacement grill (new)is chrome with every other pice being black. When I got the truck it had alternating colors of forester green and beige. I am painting the truck its original forester green color. So...green or beige?

Ya been away for a while, thought you might have finished that truck up and tossed us bolters aside like a spent beer bottle.
I can only comment on what I found on my ’50 and what the resto pack says and that is, my outer grill bars were painted the color of the truck and the inners were Waldorf White Baking Dulux enamel. The chrome radiator grill was available as RPO 386 or it was part of the DeLux equipment package, which would have been RPO 390 and the inner bars were also Waldorf White Baking Dulux enamel on it. The three vertical braces behind the bars were e-coat or satin black.
I’d asked before a couple of times about how your engine turned out from Auto Machine. Since I hadn’t heard anything back I thought that maybe the rebuild had turned out bad?

Sorry I have been out of touch. Lot's going on here...started a new business at the worst possible time with the economy etc. and I have another daughter getting married this summer so the truck has been put to the side for a while. I am far enough along though where I think with a little bit of luck I might have her on the road before the snow flies! The engine work appears to be excellent. I don't know yet as I haven't been able to fire her up...still have a carburetor to rebuild and the cab needs to get put on so I can get the gas tank and electronics set up. The bed is finished and in place and the body shop has done a beautiful job with the paint. Lots of small jobs to do like battery box, u-joints etc. and then of course the entire interior and wiring!
I'll do a better job of keeping in touch. i hope you are well.

From Jim Carter or other Internet source of differences for each year:
1951
"The "back splash" bar of the painted grille was white. On chrome grilles, only the outer bar was plated and the "back splash" bar was painted as the painted grille."
You can rough up the part of a chromed piece and then prime and paint that roughed-up area.
