Well, I finally pulled everything apart. Not good... Where to begin. I will start at the front and work my way aft.
1-The front pinion gear bearing rollers were blue (too hot).
2-the rear PG bearing was a melted fused lump of poo. race fused to housing took 45 mins of beatings to remove. No inclination of what may have been the rest of the bearing. (really hot, really bad!!!)
3-absolutly no teeth left on PG, they were a pile of shredded wheat looking shavings at the bottom.

So am looking for many new/ used pieces. If I can track down the whole housing/ PG/ring gear/ diff assy I will be happy.

With that much heat damage I would replace all the internals. At the least, find another 10 bolt with the gears you want. You could also look at a 12 bolt and swap the whole unit.

Sounds like you drove it a while without any gear oil.
