I posted a want ad in the wanted forum, but I want to ask a question. Will the 216 manifold bolt up to the early (rpo 225) 235 engine? I have a couple of these from my spare 216's and carbs.

the carb on my 4400 has a little twist in mount for the air clearner and one of the tabs is broken so the air cleaner won't stay on.
Any ideas?

What year is early 235?

Most likely, the 216 manifold will bolt up; and, depending on year, the worse case scenarios is that the intake ports on the 216 could be smaller than the ports on the 235 (depending on year).

The angle of the "down pipe" on the exhaust manifolds might also be different (depending on the year).

What year 4400 and what carb and what air cleaner?
Can you post of photo of the twisted piece?

Hey the engine is a 1949, the carb looks to be an aftermarket- or later year model rochester with the black wheel on the front end with the fuel line coming across the top of the engine and entering from the the passenger side front. the air cleaner is a large pan-

Pics to come-

Just read through the shop manual- should have done this sooner- The exhaust manifolds for 49 are interchangeable between the 216 ad the 235, in 1950 is where it changes- so I have a carb, that takes care of that issue- I will still post the pics fyi.
