Photos here. It's a '49, but the cab has been replaced with a '52 or '53. The Body tag is gone, so I can't pin down the year exactly. The 216 is a replacement or some type of reman. The pad behind the distributor is blank and the engine has blue paint with no signs of original gray paint. The head checks out as a 1950 216. All in all, its a solid truck with no rust through anywhere. Now I've got something to drive while I finish my '52 3600 frame off re-build! | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 | Looks like a winner to me. We never find stuff like that up here, it gets all rusted or beat up. I just bought a '49 myself, only a GMC. your's is a 'beaut though. I love the long beds, and the ride height. same colour i plan to do on my truck.
Congratulations! It's a keeper! | | | | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 1,028 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 1,028 | What a great find...congratulations! | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 873 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 873 | Thanks for the comments...it was a lucky find. I've got my old man to thank for that.
Bruce- like Joe said, it's an electric brake controller. I'm thinking maybe it's a manual deal by pulling the lever down to engage the brakes, but I've never seen one that old before.
Brad- I didn't know what those road flares were at first, but I gigured it out. They are pretty neat...they still have kerosene in them.
Jock- Already had the security system. He'll gladly look after the truck along with the house though. Once he jumped in that truck he didn't want to get out! | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 886 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 886 | Nice find Steve! The trailer brake, flares and extinguisher are nice finds. Your filter cleaned up and painted nice! I've got a set on my truck that look alot like those, although I've only gottem one to work so far. Who manufactured yours? Mine were made by Heintz or something like that. I've done some research to try and find som info about them, but no luck as of yet.
Awesome find!

My security system is a blood hound named "Bones". Let me know if you need any info on the 1 ton.
