Can anyone tell me if Iam missing something at the steering wheel of my 49 Chev pickup

I installed a new horn button but it won't contact the column thus no horn, I wonder if there was some sort of plate between the steer wheel and top of column photo would help me a lot thanks

Did you install a horn contact spring and bushing?

There is also a horn button retainer cup that goes under the bolt/washer that holds on the steering wheel.

When you push down on the horn button, the retainer cup (which is grounded through the steering column) completes the ground through the horn contact and the horn beeps.

If I have this wrong, I trust someone will post a correction.
