I bought a 33 1/2 ton a month or so ago....not driven it much until recent.
It gets hot after only a few miles...I removed the stat housings suspecting a faulty stat and WOW...no stat.
Is there suposed to be one?
I need to mention it has only a two blade fan!!! Is that correct.Also the radiator isnt original but appears Larger....my guess is that would be an advantage..
Could the manual spark advance contrbute to this?
Thoughts on how to cool down??

Every old car and truck I've ever taken apart, is always missing the thermostat. Why people leave them out it beyond me. Your shop manual should tell you this info. Would you suppose without a stat the water moves to quickly and never disapates the heat...I noted it calls for a four blade fan..humm logic says thats 50% more air..

Also, I would guess there was an overheat problem to begin with and the prior owner pulled the T-stat to get bye for a short period. My guess the rad is plugged..
I would flush the engine, replace the T-stat and have the radiator serviced. While at it, it would be a good time to change the water pump as well. As regard to the two-blade fan. I do not know what was original, however that sounds not right.
