Hello all,

ok, got 3 wires (after market harness) gong to the tail lights, with one individual wire attached to those three.
After messing around trying to get a better ground, it still did not work so I decided to move the blinker around to see if it works and then the one that was working went out.

If the blinker is dysfunctional, will it have any effect on the tail lights being on when they are not in blink mode?

Also, I am trying to make sense of that fourth wire. There are three that plug into one another, and then there is an extra one along side the 3 that plugs right into another single one that comes from the driver side tail light. I was thinking that the single wire might be for a license light but then why would it have another single wire to plug into?

Anyway, I hope this makes sense. Thanks for any help you might have!

You have three wires, right brake, left brake, and tail lights. The fourth is optional backup lights.

The blinker only functions on the brake lights.

The rear tail light harness should split the tail light wire for the license plate light.

Hope that helps.

That sure does help! I made some headway but still have a little problem.

Ive got all park/running lights working now, but when I turn on the head lights on, the parking lights in front and back go out. Also, I am pretty sure my turn-signal switch is crapped out because it feels really loose and I get no turn signals. Further more, when I tried to use my turn signals, it made the park lights go out. I also tried my brake lights and they do not work. So I am thinking that either a new turn signal switch, a new brake switch, or both will fix what ails me.

What do you think about that LG?

Thanks so much for your help. It really is exciting to figure these things out level by level.

By the way, I do have a ground from my block to the body now if that eliminates any possible symptoms in your knowledge banks.
