Can anyone give me pointers for buying a set of dually wheels for my 65 c20. It of course an 8 lug.

I looked into this a while back. There are companies that sell bolt on adapters to make non-duallie trucks duallies, check out the following link:

http://www.southwestwheel.com/

You may have to email them to see if they have the right conversion adapter for your bolt pattern.

These are pricey but compared to swapping the rear end and all the associated costs the adapter route would likely be a cost effective way to go.

But if you are wanting to actually use it for heavy duty hauling jobs a rear axle swap is probably the logical choice.

I hope this helps.

you can do it pretty cheap if you don't have the bed on it. just remove the hubs and drive out the lug studs and drive in longer ones with a piece of brass and a large hammer. the sell them at oreillys. you don't need adapter kits or anything. but you won't have clearence with your fleetside bed.

I ran duallys on our 64 c20 but i never could find the proper lug studs. the longer ones that where the same diameter did not fit tight enough in the hub. Wheels stayed on but when i tried to remove the lug nuts the studs turned in the hub. Also the later wheels wouldnt work properly because the later trucks used a larger diameter wheel stud. Also there was a shoulder on the 3/4 hub that a early wheel wouldnt fit over too tight. Next time i try it i will use a 73 up rear end. or redrill my 64 hubs to a larger stud diameter. OldWolf

The adapters are for the front so you can run the same wheels all around. Otherwise you will need one spare for the front and one spare for the rear.
