Can anyone tell me why and if there is a procedure for doing this successfully? I'm new. Thanks. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | Most likely some people have done this because they like the appearance of a smooth hood.
If anyone posts that they have done it, it would be nice to know how long ago it was done and how many miles the truck has been driven since the hood was done.

I smoothed the rest of the hood but left the center strip. As I've heard you can not just weld the seam together, you must weld in some supports underneath as they said the weld will crack. | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 576 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 576 | i'm curious on this myself.its something i would like to do as well..........dave 1949 Chevrolet 3100 "When this thing hits 88 miles an hour, you're going to see some serious sh%t." -Doc Brown
