Does anyone know what works? Are the carbs for a 248 270 302 the same? A Zenith from a 248 or 270 might "work" on a 228 but you can't expect the kind of performance as from a 228 Zenith. Many people have thrown Rochesters on GMC engines. Again it will "work" but not like the original carb. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 506 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 506 | I've put a carb from a 302 on a 228 with an adjustable main jet, its works but not well as others have said. "More carb don't add fuel they add air. Engine vac adds fuel, too much carb- not enough fuel." You try then to add more fuel with the main jet -. A smaller carb is usually better in most situations.
