Well here we go again, just what color is the?????

I don’t think there is a bodyman alive that would not agree, that paint is the biggest pain in the ars when it comes to restoring an automobile.
I’m doing heater this summer and have been in search for that “just right” color that Harrison used to paint their housings with a why back in the good old days.
The color is very close to the interior color, maybe a little bit lighter but it has a mottled look to it, often called hammer tone, but it is not rough textured like the hammertone paints that are on the consumer market today. I’m presently waiting for a quart of Hammerite Rust cap Bronze that is to light in the picture and I already have a quart of the Rustoleum Dark Bronze, which is to dark in the picture. I was hoping that by adding the darker Rustoleum to the lighter Hammerite I might get a hammertone paint that is close to the correct tint. I also want to experiment with the PPG DBU and see if it can be tinted/mixed with the hammertone paints, this could add further to my choice of tints and possibly give me that smooth finish yet still offer some of the hammertone appearance.
Any paint men out there that have already been through this???

I used the hammertone color PT 137 from Jim Carter.
Matched well
