I read a tech tip that said to turn the tire and count the turns to one turn of the drive shaft, now for the good stuff for one complete turn of the wheel the drive saft has made two turns. I have a 55 2nd series with a 265 looks like a 55 rear axel 10 bolt every thing looks like other 55 rear axel that I've seen. Can someone show me the light ? the original ratio would be 3.90, or nearly 4 turns of the shaft for one turn of a wheel - if it had an OD trans it would be a 4.10, just over 4 turns of the shaft

The spider and axle gears double the ring & pinion ratio. A more accurate way to check R&P ratio is to mark a spot on the tire, roll the vehicle straight forward exactly one turn of the wheel, and count the turns of the driveshaft. A 3.90:1 gearset will result in almost 4 turns of the driveshaft doing it that way.
