Gathering the parts for a radio install in my 55 second series. Managed to get a radio, without knobs and an original speaker housing off eBay. Now comes the fun part! I have gathered all the info I could find, thanks to Stovebolt contributors, thanks, and have some needs and questions.
1. Are all these capacitors and static collector buttons on the wheel hubs required?
2. Need either some dimensions or a plenum bracket for installation...help.
3. Looking for dimensions or template info for the speaker install
4. I know the knobs are available aftermarket but anyone have any spare originals?
5. Would like to add an ipod compatible jack on the back side of the radio out of view. Has any body done this?
6. short of the single speaker offered at Brothers, is there any other option or does this replacement work well?
Looking forward to getting some tunes in the 55 and thanks to all for helping.

have you seen the accessory install manual here, and the radio manual here?

for the IPOD thing, give this guy a call, right near you, he may have good speakers too, or the Old Car Centre in Langley has a dual speaker pair that fits under the original speaker cover [p# CA17 I think] that works quite well, check them out

gimme a day or 3 to dig in the stash and watch yer mail, I prolly have what you need, at least the patterns

Thanks Bill and have been reading your posts. Still waiting for both pieces to arrive and have printed off both installation and radio manuals.
On another note, managed to get my odometer up and running yesterday thanks to another post on the forum.
Great site and am excited to have another taskforce in my garage after selling my last one 20 years ago to raise a family. I was not really looking that hard when the 55 showed up in a casual conversation with a co-worker. Long story short, it was in a airplane hangar in Springbank Alberta and wasn`t advertised for sale, 2 weeks later, I was driving her back to the lower mainland.

So...have the radio installed, hums when turned on, same hum but very faint out of the speaker but no tunes, what now?
