I know the question of drop axle's has been beaten to death on here, but my question is simple and quick. When I bought my drop axle I had it narrowed to run disc brakes, my question is can i run my stock drum brakes until i can afford to buy the disc brake conversion without running into any clearance issues?.That's it, quick and simple..I'll be surprised if Leonard doesn't jump in on this question. He's answered all my other drop axle questions.

hello JAWDY....
i dont see why not.
not sure as to where your tire will wind up being, in relation to your tie rod ends....
unless i am not thinking of something, you should be fine.

do you have the original tie rod ends or updated tapered ford style ends ?

how has your truck been coming along ?

take care....

Hey Leonard, how the heck is it going? How did I know you would be the first to chime in on this subject?..The progress on my truck has been slow going since January, Mother-in-law feel ill so My wife and I have been taking care of her, anyway I'm going the way you did with the tapered Ford style ends. I was going to send you a P.M about those..If I remember correctly you bought them from speedway motors right? You wouldn't still have the part number on those would you? The one i was looking at has a part number of 910-02929,not sure if its the same. Anyway thanks for chiming in, your words of wisdom are always appreciated..I'll keep you posted on the progress of my truck. JOSH

hello again JAWDY.

sorry to hear about your mother in law... my father aint doing too well either, so i feel for you.

my tie rod ends are the tapered ford style, and i know they were from speedway, but SID from droppedaxles.com ordered them and shipped them with my dropped axle, so im not really sure of the part number for them.
maybe give SID a call. im sure he can tell you what to order.
your steering arms will have to be tapered reamed to accept those ends.
take care, and hope this helped.

leonard
