I rebuilt the carb, but am waiting on a gas tank and gas lines. I saw on a show oncer where they used a simple gas can and fitted it with a hose to the carb, elevated it and got gas to it that way. I tried this, but no such luck. I don't think there is enough presure to get the gas into the carb. Anyone have any ideas on how to get such a method to work in this situation? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 10 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 10 | Use a water hose with a squeeze ball in the middle and a barbed nipple connected to the fuel pump. Drop other end into the gas container and give the ball a few squeezes.

If not you can hook a hose to the carb & use a syphen efect or a can with a spout upside down. The gas will have to be higher then the carb. A carb will not suck on it's own. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. The link did work, but I couldn't see the welding rod you were talking about, is that necessary, I didn't see the purpose of the welding rod? But I think I have enough to go on to get it to work. Didn't think about hooking a hose into the fuel filter, great way of doing it. DIY did it by hooking the hose directly into the carb, but again, that didn't work for me. These methods will help me get er done. Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 230 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 230 | the rod keep's the hose straight not curled up,so the end is in the fuel when it get lower in the can . | | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 2,031 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 2,031 | i just used a modern plastic red gas can put a short 5/16'' hose in it which has an inline filter, this goes to the fuel pump. worked a champ
