1. It's still pretty slow, the 2 speed switch doesn't seem to change the speed of the wipers.....not a big concern, I attribute it to the 6 volt system.
2. The wipers don't travel the full distance. I would think they would travel about 100 degree arc, but only seem to go about 70 degrees.

When you bought the motor did you check to see if it was a 100 degree unit? Also are you sure the wiper motor is the correct voltage for your truck? If your truck is 6 volts and you put a 12 volt wiper motor in it the wiper motor is going to run a lot slower than it is supposed to.

Also, all after-market electric wiper motors for 54/55 trucks will not work with a stock or reproduction 54/55 radio.
1954 was the first year for a GM accessory 6v 2-speed electric wiper motor. It fit in fine with a stock radio/speaker. They are hard to find, however.

What specific voltage drop resistors should I use? The best option may be to sell this set up and get the aftermarket one. I will not be using a stock radio so that would not be a problem.

In your situation, I'd buy a 12v motor. I have two of the 6v motors but I am reluctant to install them in my 54 trucks. You need to drill two holes through the dash to hold the GM accessory 6v wiper motor in place. Two screw heads then show on the top of the dash. The 12v motor is a "clean install" as far as leaving any visible evidence.
