The info I'm seeing isn't fitting together logically. I'd like get everything on the table about flywheels for future reference.
First off, what size flywheels are out there. I know there are 139 and 168 teeth flywheels. People are talking about turning down their 168T flywheels to install a 139T ring. What are the outer dimensions for the two flywheels? I've got both and they seem to have the same OD.
Clutches for the flywheels: I'm seeing clutch sizes all over the place - 9", 10", 11", 12", 9 3/4", 10 3/4", HD and non-HD... My clutch mating surface on my 168T flywheel is 10 3/16" OD. Why is it people are saying I can use an 11" clutch... What are the the dimensions for the various flywheels? How many clutch sizes are there and what flywheels do they go to?
I have a 261 in my truck. I've read that the 235 and 261 flywheels are exactly the same, so what's the deal with the 11 and 12" HD clutches for the 261's? They can't all be the same...
With all these clutch sizes, there can't only be two flywheels. How many are out there, and what are their dimensions? What years were they produced, and what engines are they for?
