On my 1955first series the passenger door was shot with a shotgun right below the door handle, I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions how to repair this.

If the rest of the door is good, it would be possible to cut out the damaged part and weld in a patch panel. I have some hold hoods around for making patches where panels aren't available. I cut a rectangle large enough to cover the damage, then use the patch to mark a hole to cut. I use a nibbler to cut the hole and an electric shear to cut the patch. I would examine the whole door. There is a good chance that it has more damage than you think. There are doors around to be found.

Cut a patch just large enough to do the job and butt weld it in. Always weld in short burst and let it cool in between to keep any warping down. Back the area you are welding with some flattened copper pipe and you wont burn through. What size hole or holes are we talking about. Is it a shot pattern with small holes several large holes or what. Were they hunting rabbit or dear?

The blast didn't pierce the door it just pushed it in and made a thousand small dings in the door. And they were hunting truck because they shot him four times with a rifle too

If they are s not to deep you may be able to hammer them out by putting a dolly on the inside and hammering the outside lightly while holding the dolly tight against the back. You may have to use a spoon dolly to get to the areas you can't reach. You can look at them on one of the body tool vendors sights. If they are deep you may be surprised by how much the metal is stretched over all. In that case I would look for a good replacement door or at least one to cut a patch from. It is nice to know that if I take a shotgun blast to the door I am good to go.

Anything can be fixed but first you have to have enough experience and knowledge to assess the situation. Not seeing the damage I'd be pretty confident that some serious stretching has occurred which will require a skilled hand to "unstretch". You might be better off either taking it to someone who can do it or cut it out and do the patch thing as previously mentioned.

It the stray dimples from the blast are isolated I'd just mud over them. Trying to hammer them flat might cause more harm than good because that metal is stretched also.

You may want to leave it there. Kind of a redneck look. Get some mudflaps that show Yosemite Sam and say Back Off. And don't forget the gun rack.

You should gain respect on the highway.

hehehe
