I search all of the web and everyone that has some type of Rear End decoder points to the decoder page on the americanclassic.com website. It is very helpful as I found out that the year of the truck the guy told me when i bought was wrong. He claimed it was a 51 but by looking up the serial number turns out it was a 49 so that is a plus. Well the guy claimed that it was completely orginal, motor, tranny and rear end. Well one clue that wanted me to double check the rear end is no rear end chunk, no housing cover plate, no drive shaft and there is a bracket like there would be a tube shock that would bolt up to it. By look at the numbers I found and looking up 49 on that site there was no match. I also keep going through their list and no match for BBA. From my brother-in-law, a ford person, and what I read about 9 inch ford it's not one as this rear end doesn't have a taper to it.

Information:
Rear End Housing Tube: Has BBA 5 11 W with the letter D below it
Rear End Housing: Has the Letter N with the number 3838227 below it
Rear End Housing Cover Bolt Holes: 12

Link to some pictures of the Rear End with a few extra pictures

Any help would be helpful so I can know if this is a good rear end to keep with my plans for the truck or if this is something else to put on the to buy list.

What bolt pattern does it have for the wheels? Just judging from the pix, it looks to be a 12 bolt Corporate rear, but the nmbers do not appear in the book I have. I will admit, it stops at '71, so the rear might be a later version.

Update: Was searching around the internet with the rear end housing number and found a person who was wanting to know if they could use a 12 bolt rear end for something, didn't say year, what it came from, etc. and if i'm not mistaken was kind old. Well the funny thing was that his number started with a 3 instead of an 8 but every other number matched. So I went back down there just a few minutes ago to look at it again and sure enough it is 3838227 so not sure if this changes anything.
