Wondering if the 58' 235 will fit in place of my 51' 235. Want a pressure fed 235.

Yes, it will fit fine. You'll have to use the original bellhousing and possibly drill the front plate for the engine mounts. It is not the same casting, though.

Hy weltertm, you will also have to use a short waterpump, you have a couple of options there, a special shortened one from one of the specialty parts suppliers or a stock older pump, with an adapter plate, hope that helps.

Will you be converting to 12-volts or staying with 6-volts? The 6-volt starter from the 51 will not mesh with the flywheel of the later 235. Will you be staying with the 51 transmission? If so, you'll probably want to use the 51 bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, clutch fork, etc. The front mounting plate may need to be drilled to accept the 1951 front engine mounts. Other "accessories" that need to be considered for keeping or switching will be the crankshaft pulley, generator and generator mounting bracket. The 1951 216 probably has a wide fan belt (5/8"). If you use the water pump adapter plate (from pre68 dave) and use the 51 water pump, the 51 crankshaft pulley ang generator may need to be used also. There are lots of ways to mix and match these parts.
