I'm getting ready to have the 250 rebuilt and was going to remove the dizzy. I took out the retaining bolt and hold down. The distributor will barely turn...I mean barely with all I can muster with two hands!! I can feel the gear from the hole where the fuel pump was removed and it seems like it is not locked up there. Is it common to have to pry them off after they have sat for awhile(1 year)?
Put a little penetrating oil on tonight and will try again tomorrow.... | | |

The problem is that the oil and filth have glued the thing in. If the engine was still operable, you could try running it and heating it up which would probably help. The distributor which was on the other end of the shaft wasn't much better.
A rag and an oil filter wrench might help give you some leverage to loosen it up and you'll probably have to just keep working it over and over. | | |

I am still working on the floor boards on the 72. Just welded a patch on the floor, driver's side and the kick panel - pretty decent sized holes. :p The new inner and outer rocker panels are on as well. Not great, but infinitely better than the mess that was there. A few holes on passenger side to do. The cab corners look pretty stinky as well. Pagh! Always finding new opportunities to fix stuff. Well, with a free truck, one can't expect perfection... | | |
