On top of that the starter that I got from Napa 6 months ago is not working either, fortunatly there is a 3 year warranty. Any thoughts on this and are they related in anyway ? I don't think they are related at all. On the rear main leak, unless you are going to repair it yourself you could be in for a surprise. Most repair shops today wouldn't even know where to begin, and under a CYA policy would undoubtedly suggest you 'pull the radiator cap and drive a new truck under it'.
I think your choices would be, study the procedure and do it yourself, or find a repair shop that has been around since the dawn of time and has the proper mindset and knowledge to do this chore.
It is a common problem with these engines and can sometimes take several tries to repair properly while the engine is in the rig. It can be done satisfactorily and has been done satisfactorily many times. More input will be along soon I'm sure.

The rear main is a little bit of a messy(oily) job, but you can probably do it yourself in an afternoon. | | |
