On the dash to left of radio, I have a silver push button. Is this the choke (auto)? If not, what is it? :confused:

There should be a knob with a C on it. It should pull out to choke the engine. On a cold start pull out on the choke & when the engine starts push it in about 2/3. After the engine warms up a little push it all the way in. You just have to get the feel of it. Every engine is different.

Could someone have modified it to automatic? If so how could I tell?

A manual choke will have 2 cables. One to the throttle & one to the choke. Follow those cables to find which one is the choke.

Have a look at the carb and where your throttle knob hooks up. I'm betting that the PO put the choke on the throttle pull when they busted the choke one off.
My truck is like this, and it seems to work well, so long as you don't need the throttle. I did buy a replacement choke pull, though. I'll put it in when I get around to painting the dashboard. | | |
