Easy one that has me stumped. if I follow the diagram in the book and put the bend in the metal gas pedal rod the way it is shown when I looked it up, the bend stops the bar of the gas pedal from going through the hole it si intended to go through. I have bent the be-geezers out of the bar to get jsut enough curve to still snap into the back of the gas pedal and clear the firewall / floor hole, but no go.
from the pedal forward, can someone please give me an idea what goes to what etc.? I have all the parts, but if I place the gas pedal bar on the back of the pedal as it is intended, the knob on the pedal bar will not snap into its intended slot on the pedal back. pedal to bar to linkage to acc. cable to carb is all thats stopping me from a completed project I have never driven leaving the garage.

Do you have some pictures of both ends, outside in the engine bay, and inside?

I had this problem with my 55 2nd after I replaced my cab mounting bolts and had the engine rebuilt. I bent that rod every which way and it would not fit my gas pedal. It would always get hung up. I would think the angle or round bend should be just a little more. And times it should come into the body at a different angle.

Luckily. I had 3 rods and 2 gas pedals. I finally got an un-bent rod and a gas pedal to work. I believe that my 2 gas pedals had the backside 'pop in' hole in just a little different spot. And the rod needed to be original and not modified like I was believing it should be.

My 55 2nd works well and runs great.
